Practice Focused Conversations: Training Program
Coach | Mentor | Collaborate
For the Early Childhood Education & Care Sector
The Practice-Focused Conversations Training Program is a professional learning program designed for leaders and aspiring leaders. Created specifically for the Early Childhood sector and grounded in the National Quality Standards (NQS), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and contemporary research, this program builds capacity and empowers current and emerging leaders to lead quality practice improvement across Early Childhood Education and Care services and centres.
Through a blended learning approach, including online modules, interactive workshops, webinars, reflective practice and a collaborative learning platform, participants build the knowledge, dispositions, and practical skills required to embed coaching, mentoring and collaborative inquiry into everyday conversations.
Designed for current and aspiring service and centre leaders, the program focuses on developing internal capability to support early childhood professionals' growth, strengthen team cohesion, and drive continuous quality improvement.
By building practice-focused conversation capability from within, services and centres create sustainable professional learning cultures that improve workforce retention and deliver positive growth and development outcomes for all children.
This program:
-
builds consistent leadership capacity across multiple centres - The program develops a shared practice-focused conversations framework, giving current and aspiring leaders across services and centres common language, tools, and approaches to guide and support early childhood professionals consistently.
-
improves workforce retention and engagement - By strengthening coaching, mentoring and collaborative inquiry skills, leaders can better support, recognise, and develop early childhood professionals, which increases job satisfaction, professional growth, and commitment to the organisation.
-
leads to stronger quality outcomes aligned to NQS compliance (as a minimum benchmark) - Ongoing inquiry and reflective practice help early childhood professionals continuously improve their teaching and decision-making, supporting consistent alignment with and progression beyond NQS standards.
-
provides a sustainable professional learning model - The program builds internal capability by equipping leaders with the skills, tools and understandings to successfully facilitate the growth and development of others, reducing reliance on external training and support services and embedding continuous, practice-focused learning within the organisation.
-
builds strong organisational cultures that foster belonging, growth and continuous learning - Through collaborative inquiry and reflective dialogue, the program promotes trust, shared vision and purpose, and a culture where early childhood professionals feel supported to learn, contribute, and grow together.
